The Pacific Pant PDF Sewing Pattern designed by Danielle LaRae (@LaRaeHandmade) and Alyssa Woods (@VaVaLingerie)

The intended design of these pants is to offer a versatile, unisex fit that prioritizes comfort and functionality. They feature a with an optional drawstring for adjustability, making them suitable for a wide range of body types and sizes. This garment is crafted to provide a slightly relaxed fit around the hips and thighs. We advise selecting the size or sizes that are nearest to your hip measurements. If you fall in between 2 sizes, opt for the smaller size as the pattern has an oversized fit. If you’re using thick fabric like upcycled quilts, we recommend sizing up 1 size.

Strategically placed darts in the back help shape and define.
The leg shape is wide through the thigh with a subtle taper toward the ankle, creating a relaxed yet refined silhouette.

Supplies:
Fabric Recommendations- Linen, canvas, denim, cotton, tencel, hemp, and other non-stretch fabrics are recommended. Upcycling quilts and blankets work great too! (See photos for Fabric Requirements, Minimum is 2 1/8 yard)
Elastic for waistband - 1" / 2.54cm - 1 1/4" / 3.175cm width x Your Waist Measurements for length
Drawstring (optional)- if you don’t wish to use a drawstring you can also make your own using a piece of fabric measuring 1" x 60", at 1/2" trimming and turning RIGHT side out.
Needle & Thread- 10-16 size needle will work depending on the fabric and thread you choose.
Sewing Machine - if you are using a home machine make sure you stay in the 18oz or below range for canvas/denim.
Optional Serger / Bias Tape - If you don’t have a serger you can use bias tape, zig zag stitch, or fray glue.
Pins or Clips - a variety of both is the most helpful!

Materials and Supply Needs:
Fabric-Canvas or denim in 10oz-16oz is recommended. Non-stretch quilts and wool blankets also work well, just be mindful of thickness.
Fusible Interfacing Fabric - Medium weight for 10oz canvas/denim. Medium to Heavy Weight for quilts and wool blankets.
4-5 Snap Buttons with Snap Tools or Regular Buttons - See page 20 for a list of supplies with shopping links.
Needle - 12-16 size will work depending on the fabric and thread you choose.
Sewing Machine - if you are using a home machine make sure you stay in the 14oz or below range for canvas, and use thinner wool and quilt blankets.
Serger - If you don’t have a serger you can use bias tape, fray glue, or a french seam (not shown in pattern).
Pins or Clips - a variety of both is the most helpful!

Unit Notes: This pattern was drafted in cm and converted to inches. There is measurements for both metirc and imperial included! The pattren was drafted using 1/4" seam allowance, but is forgiving to 1cm seam allowance as well. If you make some slip-ups along the way, you can adjust and keep it moving.
YouTube Tutorials - many of the Baby patterns assembly methods are the same as the adult Coast Coat. For steps that are different, you will see videos labeled "Baby Coast Coat".

Fabrics:
We recommend non-stretch cotton or linen with a moderate or fluid drape between 3-7 oz per square yard. Stiffer fabrics with a voluminous drape can be used, but may result in a stiffer garment. Knit fabrics with a lot of stretch are not recommended.

WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Thread + Needle
2. #4.5 or #5 Zippers. Size 7” and 14” or Zipper Chain (continuous zipper) is recommended if you plan on making more than 1 or doing a test piece - I provide a link to all the supplies I recommend!
3. Heavy weight fabric (canvas, denim, quilted, etc. there is no liner instructions for this pattern). Your fabric choice can determine the difficulty level of this project.
Thinner fabric = Beginner/Intermediate
Thick/Quilted Fabric = Intermediate
4. 1” or 1.5” Buckle + Strap Adjuster
5. 1” or 1.5” Webbing - Cotton or polyester
6. Optional - 1 1/2 yards of bias tape/binding

Materials and Supply Needs:
Fabric-Canvas or denim in 10oz-16oz is recommended. Non-stretch quilts and wool blankets also work well, just be mindful of thickness.
Fusible Interfacing Fabric - Medium weight for 10oz canvas/denim. Medium to Heavy Weight for quilts and wool blankets.
4-5 Snap Buttons with Snap Tools or Regular Buttons - See page 20 for a list of supplies with shopping links.
Needle - 12-16 size will work depending on the fabric and thread you choose.
Sewing Machine - if you are using a home machine make sure you stay in the 14oz or below range for canvas, and use thinner wool and quilt blankets.
Serger - If you don’t have a serger you can use bias tape, fray glue, or a french seam (not shown in pattern).
Pins or Clips - a variety of both is the most helpful!
Fabric Scissors or Rotary Cutter
Iron for pressing

Unit Notes: This pattern was drafted in cm and converted to inches. There is measurements for both metirc and imperial included! The pattren was drafted using 1/4" seam allowance, but is forgiving to 1cm seam allowance as well. If you make some slip-ups along the way, you can adjust and keep it moving.
YouTube Tutorials - many of the Baby patterns assembly methods are the same as the adult Coast Coat. For steps that are different, you will see videos labeled "Baby Coast Coat".
